This album cover I made a couple years ago because after seeing the original design I thought there was so much opportunity for a more unique design rather than just emojis that already exist with different color shirts. Based on the title I decided to make a certification badge for the “lover boy” Drake. Some certification badges show stars based on the level of certification, for this album I chose to make it expert level which would display 3 stars under the word expert. Instead of stars I used a cut heart like the one shown on the side of Drake’s old haircut.
This is my take on Niko Brim’s “Two Tone” single cover. I incorporated the crown because I noticed he has used it in multiple of his covers. When watching the video, this shot of Niko and Tony was one of my favorites. It perfectly displays two sides of something just like the song is talking about so I thought it would be nice to showcase that in the cover. Niko is representing white gold and Tony is representing yellow gold.
On this album redesign I used this image of Kendrick because sometimes the word damn can make you think of being “damned” or it can make you think something is going wrong. In that case I felt this image was a good representation of both, the crown of thrones he is wearing while having an expression of sadness on his face. As for the text I find it unique to occasionally put text on the side since it is not the norm and having the banner allows for the text to make its own statement.
Lastly this was also an image I took of myself, as well as came up with the concept. While searching for albums to redesign I was reminded of NAV’s “Bad Habits (Deluxe) and I thought that this image portrayed those words perfectly because sometimes we as people have bad habits with both drugs and attitudes.
For this redesign I used images from a photo shoot Tory did which I felt was fitting to the title for the album “Loner”. I added some blur effects to the background because I felt like it represents someone’s head spinning when they’re going through a lot. I also add blur to his hand to come across as if he’s about to stab the heart. Lastly I added the image with the balloon in the background 1 because I felt like the tree was a nice touch to the background and 2 I felt it represented his “heart” leaving him.
The images in this design were actually taken by me at a Smino and JiD concert on a disposable camera. For this single cover I wanted to keep it simple and vintage so I added the Kodak film roll to enhance the vintage look that the images portray.
